Bobby’s Instagram Drama: The Unfollow, The Feelings, The Fallout

Imagine... you’re scrolling Instagram, minding your business, and suddenly realize someone you know has unfollowed you. That’s exactly what happened recently on The Bobby Bones Show.

Bobby shared that he only found out because he went to someone’s page to see who they both followed and noticed he was no longer on their list. “I was so insulted,” he said. “I don’t even post anything polarizing! It’s just show clips and the occasional picture of me saying hi!” The crew immediately jumped in with theories... maybe it was a mistake? Maybe they’re doing a social media “reset”? But Bobby checked, and nope, the person still follows plenty of others. Just not him.

“It reminded me of junior high,” he admitted. “When you get left out, because it had to be a conscious decision!” And while he hasn’t spent tons of time with this person, he’s worked with them and respects their work. Which made it sting even more. Naturally, Bobby unfollowed them right back. “Of course I did,” he said. “It’s over!” Lunchbox and Mike D both admitted they’d do the same, if someone unfollowed them, they’d hit unfollow immediately. Amy, on the other hand, said she probably wouldn’t. “I’d think it was interesting,” she said, “but I don’t think I’d unfollow back.”

While Bobby’s dealing with an unfollow, he’s also chasing a follow from someone else, a person he’s actually talked to in DMs. “We message back and forth, and I’m like, dude, we talk! All you gotta do is hit the follow button!” Even though he knows it doesn’t really matter, he admitted it still gets under his skin. “I’m offended that someone unfollowed me and slightly offended that someone won’t follow me. I’m 14.”

Amy shared a relatable story of her own, she once convinced herself that someone she knew didn’t like her anymore because they never responded to her voice text. “I thought I messed up. I was talking to my therapist friend about it,” she said. Turns out, the person just had an aversion to voice messages. “Our brain lies to us a lot,” Amy said. “We tell ourselves stories that aren’t true.” Bobby laughed but agreed: “You know what doesn’t lie? Instagram. When it tells you who follows and unfollows you.”
