TREASURE ISLAND -- A Pinellas County beach town is trying to move tourists and day-trippers off its side streets.
Starting Monday (29), there's no more free parking in the Sunset Beach neighborhood of Treasure Island.
Street parking will cost $5 an hour. City spokesman Jason Beisel insists it's not a money grab. He says revenues will be used for beach upkeep.
Residents will be able to buy annual passes for themselves and their visitors at $45.
Beisel says the city came up with the idea after asking neighborhood residents for their input.
