Carly Pearce reworked the lyrics of another artistโ€™s breakup ballad with a different perspective.

Pearce shared her rendition of the song on TikTok on Tuesday (June 10), replying to a TikToker who commented, โ€œImma need Carly Pearce to remake this in the womanโ€™s POV [point of view].โ€ Pearce said in her caption that โ€œyโ€™all liked this comment over 3,000 times, so I had to do it.โ€ย

In the video, Pearce sings a cappella: โ€œYou pushed, I pulled/ I shouldโ€™ve just made the move/ But you did what you always do, you always do/ Oh, I wanted to talk, but you walked away/ Didnโ€™t wanna hear what I had to say/ Stupid you, canโ€™t believe you never knew/ Oh the whole time/ I was just tryinโ€™ to love you.โ€

Peaceโ€™s version is reminiscent of Jason Aldeanโ€™s โ€œTryinโ€™ to Love Me,โ€ a breakup ballad that appeared on his 15-track record, Old Boots, New Dirt, in 2014. that album also included โ€œJust Gettinโ€™ Started,โ€ โ€œBurninโ€™ It Down,โ€ โ€œTonight Looks Good on Youโ€ and more. Aldean sings in the original version: โ€œI pushed and you pulled/ Should have just fell into you/ But I did what I always do, I always do/ Wanted to talk but I walked away/ Didn't want to hear what you had to say/ Stupid me, can't believe I never knew/ The whole time, you were just trying to love me.โ€

Some TikTokers tagged Aldean, and others suggested the two artists team up on a duet of the 2014 song; however, Aldean has not commented and neither artist has hinted at a collaboration in the works as of publication time on Wednesday (June 11).
