Gabby Barrett Hints That Her Next Move Is Happening Sooner Than You Think

Gabby Barrett is just a few weeks away from announcing new music.

The singer-songwriter invited fans to ask her a few questions on her Instagram story on Wednesday evening (March 12). Barrett quickly confirmed that she’ll announce new details about her upcoming chapter of music soon. The first response she shared was to an Instagram user who asked, “when are you releasing new music!?” Barrett said it’ll be “in a few weeks,” and “(you) can count on your hand!”

“My favorite thing int he room is to do more detailed work and melody,” Barrett wrote on another slide of her Instagram story, when asked about her songwriting process. “Then when I live with a song, I melt it in vocally to what I can feel while recording. I HAVE to feel it. so switching out certain words that don’t flow right for others, or melody tweaks, etc. It’s my favorite.”

Barrett did not confirm any specific details about her new music — including a song title, whether she’s planning to release an album soon, an exact release date and more — as of publication time on Thursday (March 13).

Earlier this year, the former American Idol contestant hinted at new music, including an upcoming single that’s reminiscent of her powerful breakout hit, “I Hope.” The scathing cheating anthem appeared on Barrett’s debut album, Goldmine. She said on January 13 that “the next song coming out is giving ‘I Hope’ vibes.”

Last year, Barrett released her highly-anticipated sophomore record, Chapter & Verse, in February. The 14-track album included “Cowboy Back,” “Dance Like No One’s Watching,” “Glory Days,” “Growin’ Up Raising You” and more. In November, Barrett released her second album of 2024 when she delivered her first-ever collection of Christmas songs, Carols and Candlelight. That album includes a duet with her husband, fellow American Idol alum Cade Foehner. The couple met on the competition show in 2018, and got married the following year in Texas, Foehner’s home state. Barrett, 25, and Foehner, 28, share three children, Baylah May,Baylah May, 4, Augustine Boone, 2, and Ivy Josephine, 1.
