Palm Beach County is locking up felons at a rate of almost 95 percent.
That's good for second in the state, with Clearwater at number one.
According to the Office of the State Courts Administrator, the prosecution rate for misdemeanor convictions is in fifth place, at 85 percent.
Palm Beach County State Attorney Dave Aronberg compares his office to those in other places around the country, like San Francisco.
"I think the proof is in the fact that you don't see large shoplifting rings in our community. Whole Foods is not closing down here in our community. People feel safe."
He tells CBS 12 News that this is a model for prosecution across the state.
Gov. Ron DeSantis has removed one Florida prosecutor from office and he's been outspoken against another one, for allowing people accused of violent crimes to walk free. Aronberg, a Democrat and frequent critic of former President Donald Trump on cable news outlets, says "We don't do politics in this office. It's about the evidence and the law."
Aronberg took over as State Attorney in 2022 and ten years ago, the county had a 50 percent prosecution rate.
