Man arrested after shooting dog in snout at South Florida park

A man was arrested after he allegedly shot a dog in the face at South Florida park and fled the scene.

19-year-old Benjamine Brown was arrested on Tuesday for the April 2nd shooting of a mixed chocolate lab.

According to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responding to a shooting at Kennedy Estates Park in Jupiter found a one-year-old dog named Boots suffering from a gunshot wound to the snout.

Witnesses told police that a Honda Accord drove into the park before a man got out with a firearm, shot the dog, got back into the vehicle and fled.

Boots was taken to an emergency vet. The dog suffered a fractured lower right jawbone, which caused several of his teeth to be knocked out.

The dog is expected to recover and will be adopted after healing.

Authorities say Brown surrendered without incident after a 10 day investigation into the shooting.
