The Florida Panthers Open Their 2021/22 Season In Sunrise Tonight

The Florida Panthers open their 28th season tonight hosting the Pittsburg Penguins in the newly named FLA Live Arena in Sunrise. That's the word from General Manager Bill Zito who says the Cats are coming in hungry, thirsty for revenge after making it to the playoffs last season and losing in the First Round to the Tampa Bay Lighting-their Sunshine State rivals. There is plenty of expectation. ESPN's power rankings say the cats are the 7th best team in the league and the Athletic's staff calls them the "dark-horse" candidate to win the Stanley Cup. The closest the team has ever come to winning a championship was in 1996 when they lost the Stanley Cup Final.
