The Martin County School Board has approved the back-to-school plan, with regards to COVID mitigation.

During a Tuesday evening meeting, board members decided that masks will be voluntary and social distancing may be implemented when possible.

Seating assignments will continue to be used in classrooms and on buses, and events may be subject to capacity restrictions.

Students who are fully vaccinated won't have to quarantine if they come into contact with someone who tests positive for COVID-19, but the superintendent says the district won't ask parents whether or not their child is vaccinated. Parents will have the option to inform schools about their kids' vaccination status.
