Martin County Schools Mourns Sudden Death Of Star Student/Football Player

The Martin County School District says a member of the class of 2021 has died.

In a Facebook post, the district notes that 17-year old Nikolas Lawrynas passed away.

A GoFundMe page set up for the teen's family says that the death was sudden, but doesn't reference a cause.

Lawrynas was a varsity football player and a 4.0 grade point average student at Martin County High School.

The school district wrote:

"He will be remembered as a quiet leader who was instrumental in building camaraderie amongst students and remaining passionate about our Tiger Family culture in all things."

The boy's parents are both teachers at the school and his father was an assistant coach on the football team.

The district says grief counselors will be on campus all week.
