COVID-19 Vaccines Available At All Broward Public High Schools

Florida Department of Broward officials are trying to make it even easier for school officials and some teens to get their COVID-19 shots.

From today through Friday and again from next Monday through Thursday officials will be going directly onto every public high school in the county to offer doses of the Pfizer vaccine.

Broward Schools Chief Portfolio Services Officer John Sullivan says they'll be in five to six schools daily, and then they'll return in three weeks to provide second doses.

Teachers, staff and students 16 and older can participate.

Underage teens need a parent present, but Sullivan adds those guardians have an added bonus. "The opportunity is also extended to their guardian and any extended family that is also with them."

No appointment in necessary. The Health Department will "have a handful [of shots] available on site, and if there is an issue with supply, they'll have the ability to resupply."

The shots will be provided from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Principals are notifying parents and students by email and phone about when the shots will be available on their campus.

The district stresses participation is completely voluntary.
