A new mass vaccination site for northern Palm Beach County residents is opening on Wednesday.
County leaders will show off the site at the Burns Road Community Center in Palm Beach Gardens late Tuesday and the goal is to eventually vaccinate 1,000 people per day.
County Commissioner Maria Marino, who pushed for a north county site, says she hopes it will keep people living nearby from having to drive to the South Florida Fairgrounds, which is west of West Palm Beach, or the South County Civic Center in Delray Beach.
The city of Palm Beach Gardens has a contract with the county through the end of August, but Marino says it can be extended if need be.
