Florida Adds More Than 5,000 New COVID-19 Cases On Monday

It's a number that appears more pedestrian, but is still extremely high compared with where our state was back in May.

Florida added more than 5,200 new cases of coronavirus on Monday, according to the state Department of Health.

The 5,266 new cases in a 24-hour period is much lower than the new record of 9,585 set on Saturday. There were just over 8,500 cases announced on Sunday.

Florida added 28 deaths to COVID-19 on Monday, for a total of 3,546.

Gov. Ron DeSantis will hold a press conference in Tallahassee at 1 p.m.
