Universal Orlando Resort targets June 5 reopening

The Orange County Economic Recovery Task Force Thursday unanimously approved Universal Orlando Resort's plan to reopen the parks to the public June 5.

"This would be a gradual capacity managed opening," Universal Orlando's Chief Administrative Officer John Sprouls told the task force. "We're going to manage capacity not only across the resort, but within each and every attraction and food venue and merchant venue."

Guest temperatures will be taken and everyone- theme park workers and guests- must wear masks.

"What we've coined for ourselves internally are what we're calling the 'Three S's'- which is screening, sanitation and spacing standards."

Sprouls says as much as possible they want to create 'touchless experiences' wherever they can.

The plan still needs to be approved by Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings and the governor's office.
