Supporters Of Legal Recreational Marijuana Fail To Get Issue On 2020 Ballot

Ban Introduced On Smoking Marijuana In Public Areas

Florida voters will not be weighing in this year on legalizing recreational marijuana in the state.

The Chair of Make It Legal Florida has announced that despite gathering more than 700,000 signed petitions, supporters will not be able to collect, submit and have the state verify the required number of petitions by the February 1st deadline.

The Division of Elections website says less than 300,000 have been verified.

The organization is now setting its sites on getting the ballot proposal on the 2022 ballot.
