Why Carrie Underwood's Face Is 'Not Quite Looking the Same'

Carrie Underwood is entering the New Year “not quite looking the same” as she had in 2017.

The country megastar revealed in a year-end letter to fan club members that her November fall at her home in Nashville left her with a not only an injured wrist but also an injured face.

“In addition to breaking my wrist, I somehow managed to injure my face as well,” Carrie writes. “I’ll spare you the gruesome details, but when I came out of surgery the night of my fall, the doctor told Mike [Fisher, Carrie’s husband] that he had put between 40 and 50 stitches in.”

In an original statement from her spokesperson, Carrie had revealed she suffered “a broken wrist and cuts and abrasions.”

With her new message, fans now know the latter of her injuries were on her face.

“When I am ready to get in front of a camera, I want you all to understand why I might look a bit different,” she goes on to write. “I’m hoping that, by then, the differences are minimal, but, again, I just don’t know how it’s all going to end up.”

In early 2017, Carrie announced she had signed a new record label deal with Universal Music Group with the intention of taking her career worldwide.

No official word if fans will reap the musical benefits of that deal in 2018.
