CMTAOTY: Backstreet Boys, Phillip Phillips To Perform

CMT Artists of the Year is hours away, and the superstar performers are adding up.

The network has announced Backstreet Boys and Phillip Phillips will take the stage to perform during the 2018 event, which, in light of recent natural disasters and tragedies, will forgo formal presentations of awards and speeches in favor of heartfelt messages from honorees to their fans.

Backstreet Boys will toast honorees Florida Georgia Line, while Phillip will honor Sam Hunt’s “Body Like a Back Road” as the first-ever “Song of the Year.” 

Additional honorees Chris Stapleton, Jason Aldean, Keith Urban and Luke Bryan will also perform. Previously announced performers include Andra Day, Common, Lee Ann Womack and Little Big Town, who will set the tone for the evening with an opening performance of “Rise Up” and “Stand Up For Something.”

Special appearances will be made by Blake Shelton, Chris Young, Dolly Parton and Kelsea Ballerini, while presenters include Amy Grant, Bobby Bones, Brothers Osborne, Lionel Richie and Vince Gill.

CMT Artists of the Year airs live from Nashville’s Schermerhorn Symphony Center tonight (Oct. 18) at 8/7c.
