Florida Power and Light wants to give customers a break amid the coronavirus pandemic.
FPL is looking to pass along fuel-costs savings to customers on their bills in May.
The savings would be coming anyway, but typically over a series of months. The electric company says it will ask the Florida Public Service Commission to lump together fuel savings into a one-time bill reduction, which would come to just over $20 for the average residential customer who uses 1,000 kilowatt hours a month.
Bills would go back to normal in June.
FPL executives say they want to help Floridians navigate through what they call a "difficult and unsettling time."
