Florida Congresswoman Frankel Blasts Trump Administration For Title X Rule

A South Florida Congresswoman is blasting the Trump administration for what she calls a "dangerous domestic gag rule" that's forced Planned Parenthood to pull out of the nation's family planning program, known as "Title X."

"We cannot go back to the days when the state and the government and the presidents were in control of women's reproductive rights."

Democrat Rep. Lois Frankel calls it the "cruelest and most dangerous rule coming out of a presidential administration."

"I want to just make it clear that federal money does not pay for abortions. It never has."

The new rules stipulate that clinics that want to continue getting taxpayer dollars refrain from referring patients for abortions, among other things. Rather than abide by the rules, Planned Parenthood bailed.

Frankel says that millions of people will go without health care.

She says that Planned Parenthood provides basic healthcare for women, including mammograms and HIV testing.

But pro-life groups say the move by the organization makes it clear that their main service is abortion.

About 4 million women are served nationwide under the Title X program and Planned Parenthood says it's served about 40 percent of patients.
