NOAA Announces Hurricane Season Forecast

Government forecasters are out with their predictions for the upcoming hurricane season.

NOAA says there's a 70-percent chance of a near-normal season with nine to 15 named storms forming in the Atlantic this year.

Half of those storms could become hurricanes and two to four of them could be a major hurricane of Category 3 or higher.

FEMA says the forecast numbers are important, but families need to remember that it only takes one storm to put people and property at risk.

The annual hurricane season runs from June 1st through November 30th.
