The city of Delray Beach has had a new police chief since April, but Javaro Sims tells us one thing that's consistent is the department's connection to the community with frequent events to show up in different neighborhoods with important information for residents.

Sims, who has been with the department for 26 years, also touts the agency's volunteer program.

"We have approximately, depending on the season, around 200 volunteers annually and they do amazing work. Having those additional eyes and ears driving around in the community is always a plus."

He says adults of all ages are welcome to sign up...in fact there oldest volunteer recently turned 104.
