Michael Expected To Strengthen To Category 3 Storm Over Next 24 Hours

National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration spokesman Ken Rakowski says destructive winds of over 100 miles-per-hour are expected from Hurricane Michael that will cause power outages and damage to infrastructure.

He said the storm will likely land in the Florida Panhandle on Wednesday before moving up through Georgia and into the Carolinas.

There is also a threat for some tornados in the southeastern region of the United States.

Federal Emergency Management Agency Associate Administrator Jeff Byard is warning residents in the path of the storm that the time to evacuate is now and locals should heed all warnings.

Citizens who choose to stay can download the FEMA app for guidance on what actions need to be taken for storm preparedness.

Hurricane Michael is expected to strengthen to a Category 3 storm over the next 24 hours.
